"THE FORGOTTEN MEMORIAL" SERIES BY ALEXANDER DASHEVSKY is INSPIRED BY THE ESCALATION OF WARS FOR MEMORIES THAT SHAKES THE WORLD LATELY
-
The monument, as a way of organizing the collective memory, has a double nature. On the one hand, it gives flesh to memories, fixes them in place, on the other hand, it perpetuates, stops the time.
-
What processes does the dismantling of the monument triggers? Do collective memories become ghosts when they lose their sculpted body? Are they then able to appear from the other world and create an phantom? Does the ruining of the monument triggers a stopped time to run again?
-
A series of graphics is built around the image of a new memorial - an unauthorized dump, strewn with fragments of monuments to self-made, strong-willed men, conquerors, discoverers and demiurges.
