Magic Glade is part of a series on the forest as women’s territory. In the age old model, where man is the hunter and woman is the object, there has always existed a “secret land”, a terra incognito, where the rules are different and the weak become the strong. We hear about the forest and women in many stories and legends. Witches, nymphs, and even Baba Yaga all live in the forest. Even the mightiest knight can be enchanted and led astray there. In the forest grow herbs that can drive one mad and herbs that can imbue one with great strength. It is a place of mystical knowledge. This has been known for ages, since the times when men went out onto the plains to hunt and women went into the forest to gather berries, mushrooms, and roots and to hunt for small game. The forest became a place where weakness overcame strength. This was the beginning of the conflict between stone and forest – the stone cathedrals with their somber fanatics and the dark forests with their enigmatic witches.

A moving, 3-D image – a lenticular print – is created using micro-lenses and printing software. It gives a dimension of depth to the space or creates the illusion of movement and shows different images when viewed from different angles.
