Overview

The main material used for all of Anastasia Kuznetsova-Ruf's artworks is a charcoal pencil on canvas. Color appears infrequently, but at the same time her works do not lose their exquisite, veiled picturesqueness. Having a classical art education and masterly technique, Anastasia is not a hostage of "academicism". The idea, the psychology of the characters and the metaphorical presentation remain  the first place for her. The artist likes to turn the everyday into a symbol, playing intellectual games with the viewer.

Anastasia Kuznetsova-Ruf was born, lives and works in Moscow. She graduated from the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute (2007) and the Institute of Contemporary Art (2002). Anastasia is included in the TOP 100 rating of  Recognized Artists of Russia , attractive for investment (InArt), and in the all-Russian open list of the Best Contemporary Artists of Russia (ARTEEX).

Anastasia became a scholar of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation three times. She was awarded a gold medal and a diploma from the Russian Academy of Arts. In 2013 she won the IV International Portraits Competition PORTRÆT NU named by Jacob Christian Jacobsen - BREWER J.C. JACOBSEN'S PORTRAIT AWARD - taking second place.
